Signs of Meth Addiction

Meth addiction

Meth or crystal meth is a highly addictive illegal drug which is produced in underground labs. The effects of meth are devastating on an individual and wreak havoc on the overall well being of the person. This drug is associated with messing up dopamine. So in a way, it affects the reward system of the human body. Just like alcohol a person develops tolerance to meth and becomes an addict. The unfortunate problem with meth is that unlike alcohol there is no way of detecting a meth user until it's too late.

Signs and symptoms of meth addiction

The most common signs and symptoms of meth addiction are as follows

Picking at skin or hair

A meth addict will be seen scratching his head, pulling his hair and it would appear that the person is feeling itchy everywhere in his body.

Dilated pupils

Look closely into the eyes of the person you suspect to be the meth addict, if you see them unusually dark then you can suspect that person to be addicted to meth. Meth addicts are often seen with dilated pupils.

Rapid eye movement

Having shifty eyes is also one of the signs that a person might be addicted to meth. A meth addict will have a real hard time maintaining eye contact and will always be looking here and there.

Reduced appetite

Meth addicts will be thin, the reason being that meth causes loss of appetite and a person addicted to meth will always shun away from eating regular meals.

Insomnia

These people will always be awake, and this should be the first thing that you should check in a person suspected to be a meth addict.
